MG Car Club Sydney Members Gathering
February 13 @ 7:45 PM - 10:00 PM
An event every month that begins at 7:45pm on day Second of the month, repeating indefinitely
Monthly Gatherings are open to all members and visitors. They are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.45pm at the Denistone Sports & Bowling Club in West Ryde.
At these gatherings you’ll be able to catch up with the latest happenings in the Club as well as enjoy a social evening with other members – we’ll usually see upwards of 100 members at a gathering. A guest speaker is often invited to present a topic of interest.
Arrive early, enjoy a delicious meal at discounted MG Car Club Sydney rates, have a drink or a cappuccino at the bar and meet up with old (and young) mates.
We also take this opportunity to offer our quality regalia products for sale, and provide access to the Club’s library of books and videos.
The February 2018 Members Gathering Will Feature Guest Speaker Joel Wakely and be Held at the MG Centre of Sydney
The February 2018 Members Gathering will be an outdoor barbecue at the MG Centre of Sydney and will feature a talk from Joel Wakely sharing tales from the history of Holden and the passionate people who made, raced and owned cars from the classic Australian marque. To cover the cost of the barbecue, the event will be $5 per person.
Joel Wakely has worked with and raced Holden cars for almost his entire life, owning several significant and very rare cars. He knows Holdens like he knows the back of his hand, and knows many other passionate Holden lovers like himself.
Following his success Legends of the 48-215 – an in depth racing history of the very first Holden model – and to mark the manufacture of the very last Holdens in Australia in 2017, he has gathered dozens of fascinating stories about many of the models Holden have produced since 1948. Joel tells the whole story of Holden, from the saddlery set up by J.A. Holden in the 1850s, to Henry Holden’s car body building of the 1910s, the sale of the company to General Motors, the determination to produce the all-Australian car and the highlights of 69 years of manufacturing all-Australian vehicles.
With contributions from dozens of Holden enthusiasts about their myriad cars, plus hundreds of photographs, many never seen in print before, this is a Holden book like no other. It’s a book from the heart that goes deep into the passion that Holden engenders.
Joel is also arranging a few period Holdens to attend the meeting. He will have copies of the book for sale and of course will be delighted to autograph them.
The February 2018 Members Gathering will be held at the MG Centre of Sydney – Unit 26. 20 Tucks Road Seven Hills. The entrance is off of Powers road – please be aware of this as many GPS systems will take you over to Tucks road Toongabbie and the the two don’t meet.
Starting at 7PM with a barbecue. The presentation will begin at 7:45. Coffee & tea will be provided, but please bring your own chair & drinks.
