Photo Gallery: March 2019’s MG RV8 Run to Wollombi in the Hunter Valley

This past Sunday, the 31st of March, we got together for a run to Wollombi in the Hunter Valley, kindly hosted by Alan Heritage and the RV8 Register. Bob Parkinson and Ingo Weinberger have reached out with photos from the run, and you can enjoy them in the galleries below.

After weeks of rain, we met in sunshine at McDonald’s Mount Colah to catch up and get organised before heading out on the run. From Mount Colah we joined the Old Pacific Highway, winding down the Great North Road before arriving at Wollombi Tavern.

More than fifty members and friends attended the run, bringing 32 cars, including eight RV8s, to Wollombi. Thanks to members for the great support!

The tavern, famous for Dr. Jurd’s Jungle Juice, was a great location for a catch-up, offering good food and a central location to explore the area.

Read on for a few comments thanks to Ingo Weinberger, and enjoy the photos thanks to Ingo and Bob Parkinson.

“We assembled on the first cool morning of the year at Mount Colah McDonald’s for caffeine intake, conversation, run sheet entry and route directions. Equipped with jackets and hats, it was good to see a number of our group running with the top down.”

“The route took us onto the Old Pacific Highway to Calga Interchange before we took George Downes Drive through Kulnurra and Central Mangrove. The historic Old Northern Road was next, and it seems to have been built with MGs in mind!”

“We encountered a few cyclists, thankfully moving in the other direction, as well as countless motor bikes going every which way.”

“Arriving at Wollombi, we were able to park on the grass in a paddock. We organised the RV8s to the left, with other models on the right. We were pleased to meet up with other MG drivers who joined us from the Central Coast and even Taree.”

“With that we settled down to eat, drink and discuss the usual MG topics, breaking up in the early afternoon to take a leisurely drive home. I took the same road back and was able to enjoy it with almost no other traffic.
